Darlene Flynn has added more than a hundred shoe-related items since receiving her membership into the Guinness record book entry with 7,765 shoe-related items. On Saturday night at the Ponderosa Steak House and Sports Bar in Sun City she beamed while parading her self-created shoe costume, which displayed her Guinness certificate.
What started out as a hobby for Flynn grew to a full-fledged passion that might even have been the envy of Imelda Marcos.
Flynn, who is the new owner of Mail Mart in Temecula and has also had a bookkeeping service for 18 years, has a collection that ranges from paper goods to shoe-themed nightshirts to her beloved collection of miniature sculpted shoes from the Just the Right Shoe line. She started her shoe-themed collection in 2000 and it has since grown to 7,765 pieces of shoe memorabilia, thus establishing a record worthy of being included in the Guinness World Records. In that record number of shoe-related items, she has more than 700 Just the Right Shoe miniature shoes and special paper goods, including a very limited collectible called “Victoria” that was offered for a limited time on QVC.
